Dr. Shaimaa El Kholy is a Consultant in Gastroenterology and Advanced Interventional Gastrointestinal Endoscopy at several hospitals, including Millennium Hospital, Al-Salam International Hospital, Alfa scope, and El Safa Hospital.

She is a specialist in advanced therapeutic endoscopic techniques, particularly in Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), treatment of achalasia without surgery, G-POEM for gastroparesis, Z-POEM for upper esophageal dysphagia, and early detection of colon cancer and polypectomy. Dr. Shaimaa El Kholy has developed her skills by participating in lectures and workshops in countries like England, the Netherlands, Austria, and China. She received hands-on training in China, which helped her introduce these advanced techniques to Egypt in 2018.

She has successfully implemented this technique in several Arab countries such as Lebanon, Morocco, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq, and has organized workshops and training courses for interventional gastroenterologists.

In 2022, Dr. Shaimaa El Kholy was invited to provide practical training at a global conference in San Diego, California, based on the recognition of her efforts by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). As a result, she became the first Arab female doctor to provide training for U.S. physicians.
